BEIJING - The Netherlands and former Blue Raider baseball player Tjerk Smeets fell to Canada 4-0 in its sixth preliminary game of the 2008 Olympic Games.

Smeets had one at bat against the Canadians as he struck out in his first plate appearance in Beijing.

As a team, the Netherlands only had two hits in the game as Percy Isenia and Roel Koolen each went 1 for 3.

Canada had one double and one triple in the win over the Netherlands with Stubby Clapp and Emerson Frostad each going 2 for 4.

The Netherlands will be back in action on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 11:30 a.m. Beijing time and Tuesday, August 19 at 10:30 p.m. CDT when it faces South Korea.
