BEIJING - The Netherlands and former Blue Raider baseball player Tjerk Smeets fell to the United States 7-0 in its second preliminary game of the Olympics.

The Netherlands only notched one hit as Sharnol Adriana went 1 for 3 on the day.

Smeets did not see any action in the second preliminary game for the Netherlands but will have another chance when the team faces Japan on Friday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. Beijing time and 6 a.m. CDT on Friday, Aug. 15.

All baseball games during the Olympics will be held at the Beijing Wukesong Sports Center Baseball Field or one of the two competition fields surrounding the complex.
