
Carl Morgan placed third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump at the North America/Central America/Caribbean U-23 Championships in Toluca, Mexico, last weekend. (MT)

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Carl Morgan placed third in the triple jump, fourth in the long jump and was a member of the third-place 4x100-meter relay along with brother Carlos this past weekend at the North America/Central America/Caribbean U-23 Championships in Toluca, Mexico.
Carl Morgan set a personal-best in the triple jump, placing third with a mark of 51-8.5, one centimeter further than his previous best and just one centimeter from second place. The mark was only four centimeters shy of the "B" standard for qualifying for next month's Olympics for his native Grand Cayman.
Carl Morgan placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 24-5.75, while Carlos Morgan was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 23-9.75.
The brothers ran the third and fourth legs on the 4x100 relay, which placed third behind the United States and Canada in 39.68.
Carlos Morgan just completed his eligibility at Middle Tennessee and Carl Morgan will be a senior during the 2008-09 academic year.
