MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 2008 preseason football magazines are hitting the stands and a few Middle Tennessee players have garnered attention.

Running back Desmond Gee and defensive back Alex Suber were named to the Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook All-Sun Belt team. Gee, a rising junior who is a two-time first team All-SBC pick, made the squad as a kick returner while Suber was selected as one of four defensive backs.

Phil Steele's Magazine announced its All-Sun Belt team recently and 13 Blue Raiders were placed on either second team, third team, or the honorable mention squad.

Offensively, guard Jamal Lewis was on the second team while Gee was placed on the third team as a running back. Offensive tackle Mark Thompson was voted to the offense's honorable mention team.

On the defensive side, tackle Trevor Jenkins, Suber, and Anthony Glover earned second team honors while Brandon Perry was the lone third team member. Linebacker Danny Carmichael and newcomer Marcus Udell were voted to the honorable mention team.

Gee also earned second team honors as a kick returner and third team accolades as a punt returner. David DeFatta was tabbed third team as a punter and was on the honorable mention list as a placekicker.

The Blue Raiders will open the 2008 season at home against Troy on August 28.
