Iowa State, UConn and St. Louis will visit Alumni Memorial Gym
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball program will begin the 2008 season by playing host to two tournaments as announced by head coach Matt Peck on Wednesday.
The first weekend of action Aug. 29-30 the Blue Raiders will play host to the Blue Raider Bash with Idaho, Southeast Missouri State and South Dakota State. Then Sept. 5-6 Middle Tennessee will play host to Iowa State, Loyola Marymount, Appalachian State and Florida International in the Middle Tennessee Invitational.
The Blue Raiders will then hit the road traveling to Arlington, Texas to compete in the UT-Arlington Hilton Invitational to end tournament play. Middle Tennessee will face schools including Duke, Texas Arlington and South Carolina State.
Middle Tennessee will play Ohio, Xavier and Tulane in non-conference action before Sun Belt play begins.
The Blue Raiders will begin league play at rival Western Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
Then Middle Tennessee returns home for matches with FIU and Florida Atlantic before hitting the road to play four straight. During the road stretch, the Blue Raiders will play Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, North Texas and Denver.
The Blue Raiders play four-straight after the road stretch playing host to rival Western Kentucky on Monday, Oct. 20 and then Louisiana-Lafayette, ULM and New Orleans the following weekend.
Middle Tennessee hits the road again for four more road matches playing Troy, South Alabama, FIU and FAU before returning to Alumni Memorial Gym to end the season. Middle Tennessee will play its final two league games with Troy and South Alabama on Nov. 14 and 15.
The Sun Belt Conference tournament is set to begin Thursday, Nov. 20 and run through Saturday, Nov. 22 in Miami, Fla., with the Golden Panthers of FIU playing host.
The Blue Raiders have scheduled the University of Connecticut and St. Louis on Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. after the conclusion of the conference tournament.
