MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's volleyball program has inked its second high school athlete as announced by head coach Matt Peck on Monday.
Lindsey Cheatham, a 6-foot-3 outside middle blocker, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., was a letterwinner and All-State selection at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
"Lindsey is a gem. She may end up being our most decorated player ever here at Middle Tennessee. She is tall, very athletic, strong and a straight-A student. She will fit in perfectly with our offense and we will be able to do a lot of things with her. We are so excited to have her on our team in the fall," head coach Matt Peck said.
Cheatham received a number of honors during her senior season including 2007 FHSAA 2nd Team All-State, 2007 Sun Sentinal 1st Team All-County, 2007 Miami Herald 1st Team All-County.
Cheatham also led Broward County in blocks and was in the top five in total kills. Cheatham was named the Cardinal Gibbons High School Most Valuable Player in 2007.
Currently, Cheatham is playing club volleyball for Club Florida 18-Mizuno under head coach Albert Sturgeon.
The Middle Tennessee volleyball program will sign one more student-athlete for the 2008 season during the signing period.
