Sangau set her fourth school record this academic year, breaking the 3000-meter mark held for almost 20 years by Sharon Smith (1989, 10:21.74). Sangau finished third in the event in 10:07.40, with senior Marjorie Gombert fourth in the event in 10:31.26.

Cortin broke teammate Brittany Cox's school record in the hammer throw by two inches. Cortin placed seventh in the event with a mark of 162-7.

Elsewhere for the Blue Raiders, freshman Marla Bailey finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:47.50, while freshman Festus Chemaoi was also third in the same event on the men's side in 9:28.82.

In the field events, sophomore Sarah Nambawa placed third in the long jump with a mark of 19-0, and freshman Kortney Thurman was fourth with a mark of 17-4.75. Nambawa finished third and was the top collegian in the triple jump with a mark of 42-0.

Cox placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 46-6 and was also eighth in the discus with a mark of 131-9.

On the men's side, junior Carl Morgan finished second in the long jump with a mark of 24-0.75 and senior Carlos Morgan placed third with a mark of 23-11.

"Zamzam and Maité both had good days and we also had some good performances in the jumps by Sarah and the Morgans," head coach Dean Hayes said. "We have to continue to find out who can do what in certain events as we move through the month and closer to the Sun Belt [Championships]."
