MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Three members of the Middle Tennessee volleyball team have been named Stellar Spikers by Collegiate Volleyball Update.
Junior Ashley Adams received first team honors while junior Ashley Asberry and sophomore Leslie Clark were named second team.
All total 84 student-athletes from across the country were honored as CVU.com looked for players who exhibited excellence and balance. NCAA statistical rankings were considered as well as player impact and conference awards.
The first and second team selections were centered around building a team with a starting line up of seven players and then two players per starting slot to fill out each team.
Adams received a number of honors during the 2007 season including MVP of every tournament the Blue Raiders won, Sun Belt Player of the Year, Sun Belt First Team and Sun Belt All-Tournament.
Asberry was named Sun Belt First Team and was ranked in the NCAA rankings in a number of categories during the 2007 season. Clark received Sun Belt First Team honors, Sun Belt All-Tournament and led the NCAA in assists throughout the season.
In 2007, Middle Tennessee posted a school record 35-3 season and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
